“UCN’s First Neighborhood Gatherings”
Would you like to get to know the UUs in your “neighborhood” a little better? Well, Tony Larsen would like to get to know UCN members and friends a little better too. So we are planning 2 UCN Neighborhood Gatherings, one aimed at people who live north of Mequon (e.g., Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, West Bend, Grafton, etc.); the other aimed at people who live south of UCN (e.g., Milwaukee, Glendale, Bayside, etc.). However, people can go to any gathering whose time and place is convenient for them. (Just make sure to contact the host/ess ahead of time, so they can have enough seats and snacks.)
The “north-side” Neighborhood Gathering will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday, September 5th at the home of Mike and Helen Strauss.
The “south-side” Neighborhood Gathering will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 3rd at the home of Stephanie Loehr (actually, at her condo’s “clubhouse”).
So, what will we do at these Neighborhood Gatherings? We will gather at 6:30 pm; have a “check-in” (personal joys and concerns) at 6:45; then enjoy some snacks, followed by a sharing of our own “spiritual odysseys” (i.e., how did we end up as UUs?). We should be done by 8 (or 8:15 at the latest). Each “neighborhood” will meet quarterly (i.e., once every 3 months) at the home of a different UU from that area.
For people who prefer a Sunday afternoon gathering, we will have one at 1:30 pm on November 10 at the home of Jenny and Amber Elsner-Miller.
This neighborhood gathering is not only for people who live close to UCN. It is also for those who live farther away but might find it convenient to attend a neighborhood gathering on their way home from church on Sunday.
