Unitarian Church North is hosting a fun family Barn Dance on Saturday, November 11. The church is located at 13800 N. Port Washington Rd., Mequon, in a building that replicates the Clausing barns built in the area in the late 1800s. The public is invited to the event, which includes live music with a dance caller, cash bar (water, beer, wine, hot cider, decaf coffee), desserts and a bake sale.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Dancing runs from 6:30 to 7:30, and again from 8:00 to 9:00. Music continues until 10:00. Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per child ($10 for two or more children in a family). Tickets may be purchased at the door or at the church office at 11 a.m. on Sundays.
A traditional barn dance is a group event, where a caller provides instructions before each dance. The dance is generally in lines and, like square dancing, the partners are rotated. You don’t have to bring a partner and no experience is required. This is a fun, family event for those who enjoy dancing or love Irish or Old-Time music.
Childcare is available by reservation for an additional cost of $5 per child or $10 per family.
