“Fire Communion,” Rev. Tony Larsen

Spark of life.     Divine light present in all.    Silence.     Stillness.     Magic paper set alight.   Past regrets released.    Vanishing.     No trace.    Hope restored.
The fire ceremony is an annual ritual for many Unitarian Universalists. A tribute to our earth-centered sources, we echo the neo-pagan ritual of writing our regrets on paper, then burning the paper to release the words.  UUs look to the chalice as our guiding light towards beginning again. Come begin again with us in this International Service.

Rev. Dr. Tony Larsen has recently retired from being the minister at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church in Racine (for over 42 years–a record!). He has written a book entitled “Trust Yourself! You Have the Power” (Impact Publishers, 1979), authored a UUA curriculum (“A Catechism for Unitarian Universalists”) and contributed chapters to UUA-published books “Salted With Fire” and “Everyday Spiritual Practice.” Tony has served on the boards many groups, including the Women’s Resource Center, Southeastern Wisconsin AIDS Project, Racine Jail Ministry, and the LGBT Center of SE Wisconsin.
