Side With Love is a public advocacy campaign created by the Unitarian Universalist Association that seeks to harness love’s power to stop oppression in the world.
What is love calling you to do?
Unitarian Universalism is a spiritual practice challenging us to show up for justice with humility, to choose love over fear, to show up when we’re called to fight oppression. All the issues we care most deeply about are fundamentally interlinked. Each of us has a role to play in building a world in which all people can be free, and all can thrive.
When we bring our best and most courageous selves to our justice work, whatever the issue or campaign – we are choosing to Side With Love.
UU the VOTE
We strive to be of service to our communities and advocate for change on local, state, national, and international levels.
UU the Vote is the Unitarian Universalism Association’s program to assist UU advocates on the state and local level to be informed and effective in fighting for fair elections, fair redistricting maps, and in advancing voting rights and equal access to voting. UCN and the Social Justice Committee offer election information and forums before local, state, and national elections. The goal is to support every member to be informed and make voting decisions that align with personal and UU values.
In 2022, UCN members kept us informed about the partisan court fights on redistricting maps in Wisconsin, and the final decision by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to approve a new map with few changes from the gerrymandered district maps that had been in place for the past decade. Registering voters is a key aspect of UU the Vote, and informing voters of all the issues and candidates that will be on their primary and general election ballots. By being organized in this effort, we seek to do our part to redress the current threats to our democracy and human dignity. To #VoteLove and #DefeatHate.
UU Service Committee
The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization advancing human rights together with an international community of grassroots partners and advocates.
In 2021, UCN donated to the UUA Holdeen India Project when the lack of Covid vaccines in rural India was creating a severe health crisis during the pervasive pandemic. In 2022 at the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine, UCN donated to UUA’s Ukrainian Relief efforts to those who became refugees by fleeing Ukraine and the war.
