Share the Plate: November & December 2022
The Share the Plate recipient for November and December came to our attention through the interview process of LaToya Bates, UCN’s new R.E. Director. Brian Bunzel and Leigh Hoftiezer noted on her curriculum vitae that she has dedicated herself to helping others in the community through an organization she created, Wounded Wings: Association for the Betterment of Women and Girls.
Established in 2002, Wounded Wings strives to meet the needs of BIPOC women and girls in the Milwaukee area who frequently face trauma in their daily lives. Their objective is to help women and girls overcome obstacles that keep them from utilizing their potential. Wounded Wings is an inclusive, anti-racist ministry. All are welcome in their interfaith, LGBTQIA+ affirming organization. Support programs are provided for women and girls who have suffered sexual and/or physical abuse, children whose mothers are incarcerated as well as their incarcerated mothers, and women and girls who are in need of fact-based sex education.
