Using UU principles to Decide your Vote
The Unitarian Universalist principles serve us in many ways, including helping guide us in our personal search for truth and meaning. They can also serve to help guide us in relation to our role in our community and democracy. We can apply our UU principles as a tool to help us determine which candidates best embody those principles via their words and deeds.
The list below is a series of questions to ask candidates that may help you determine which people running in your upcoming local, state, or national elections most closely align with the UU principles. Asking these questions could be done by sending an email, attending a forum where you can ask questions directly, or giving them a call letting them know you would like to learn more about them. You could also use this list as a guide for important things to look for when reviewing their statements, website, interviews, debates, or their record of previous work and actions.
